Just stepping away from something stressful for a few minutes or taking time away from your normal routines and thoughts can give you enough space and distance to feel calmer. Read a book or a magazine, even if it’s only for a few minutes. Run yourself a bath, watch a film, play with a pet or try out a new recipe.

Life can be crazy! If you’re trying to find a way to wind down without having to worry about pharmaceutical side effects, try a few of these natural ways to relax. Remember, whenever possible, find a way to eliminate the source of the stress. Sometimes all it takes is a phone call or a good night’s rest to put your heart at ease.

Best ways to relax!

Breathe in……….Breathe out…..Ahhhhh…..Ready?

#1. Stretching and Workouts

Honestly, I wasn’t a huge fan of the yoga craze until I did P90X and realized just how difficult and clearing it can be for you. It absolutely blew my mind how I could calm down so much and work through a lot of the things I was worried about in under an hour..

#2. Consistent Sleep

Your body is actually a very sensitive machine, and if you’re not taking care of yourself properly, your hormones can go haywire and throw your emotions all over the place. And THAT will be stressful (here are 5 easy and effective ways to de-stress) and won’t let you sleep.

If possible try the following for a consistent nights sleep:

You should try to have a consistent sleep schedule (a good sleeping routine will change your life for the better by adding stability and discipline). You should try not to fall asleep with the TV or lights on as they are distractions.  Try to get up at the same time every day, you’ll feel a lot more rested and in control of your life.

#3. Start Eating Healthy

This can be different for everyone, but as a rule of thumb, processed foods aren’t going to be helpful to your body or your mind. One of the best things you can do for your system, is to eat as healthy as possible when your stressed.

Start your day with a healthy breakfast, have healthy snacks in the house (so you don’t reach out to just food), and eat a wholesome dinner.

#4. Start a Journal or read a book

Journaling is a fantastic way to relieve stress. Audio books are something that I’ve gotten into quite regularly and I find it calms me while almost anywhere. It’s very soothing to have someone read to you, especially if it’s something you’re interested in.

Audible makes it easy to listen to podcasts or almost any book you can imagine.  Click the link below to get started!

#5. Natural Supplements

There are many great herbal supplements on the market that can help a ton with stress and tension. I take Ritual brand s multivitamins for men 18+, I personally feel that they keep me clear, healthy and focused.

There are tons of other products on the market that will help as well: valerian root and melatonin can make a big difference if you’re having a hard time sleeping. Do your research and always make sure that you aren’t allergic to any of the ingredients in your supplement of choice.
